| Q |
I
have been inactive for three years. Do I have to pay
3 years of back dues? |
|
Absolutely
not. You simply complete the re-instatement form found
under the Member Services icon. There is a flat re-instatement
fee of $80.00 regardless of whether you are a single,
dual or triple member or if you have been inactive for
1 year or 10 years. In addition, you must pay your dues
for the current season. For those who have been inactive
for more than 4 years, please allow at least 7 working
days for us to complete our research.
|
| Q |
I am a Level 1 instructor and have been inactive for
12 years. Do I have to retake my Level 1 course? |
|
Once you
have passed your certification, it is yours for life.
However, you are requested to take a PDP session, offered
free of charge, as this will act as a refresher course
prior to returning to teaching.
|
| Q |
As
an instructor or coach, am I insured if I teach privately?
|
|
Yes, as
long as you have paid your membership dues and teach
in Canada.
|
| Q |
I
do not intend on teaching this season, but want to
remain an active member. Do I still have to pay full
membership dues? |
|
No you do not.
The alternative is the Associate Membership. For a lesser
fee you still benefit from a number of perks. The prices
are as follows: $44.95 plus tax for single member. $64.95
plus tax for dual or triple members. As an Associate
member you remain active, continue to benefit from the
liability insurance coverage while free skiing, can
purchase our endorsed products and continue to receive
all the National Office correspondence.
|
| Q |
I
just paid my Associate Membership dues but decided
to teach this year. What do I do? |
|
Contact the National
Office so that we can up-date your record to a regular
membership and you just have to pay the difference.
|
| Q |
What
if I want to resume teaching next year or the following
year? |
|
Simply
contact the National Office and we will change your
status to Regular and send you a new invoice.
|
| Q |
How
do I get the international certification (ISIA) sticker? |
|
To receive your
ISIA sticker you must be a CSIA Level 3 International
Certified Ski Instructor. Contact the National Office
sothat we may issue your sticker.
|
| Q |
I
passed my Level 1 in March and I just received a dues
invoice in August. Isn't my membership good for one
year after becoming certified? |
|
When you passed
your level 1, you became certified and enjoyed all the
rights and privileges of a current CSIA member for the
remainder of the season.
However, memberships
are renewed every August. To retain your membership
and receive all the member rights and privileges for
another season, you have to pay the next season's dues.
|
| Q |
I'm
interested in taking a Level one course this year.
Can I register through your office? |
|
No, as
all Level 1 courses are administered Regionally. Therefore
to register, simply visit the Level 1 section of our
web site.
|
| Q |
How
old do I have to be? |
|
CSIA- You must
be 15 years old by the first day of the course.
CSCF- You must
be 15 years old by the first day of the course.
CASI- You must
be 16 years old by the first day of the course

|
|
The cost of the

|
| Q |
A
friend of mine just received a nice plastic membership
card. Why was I only given a cardboard card when I
completed my Level 1 course? |
|
In essence, you
received a temporary card, which confirms that you successfully
completed your level 1 course. Once your course results
have been processed by the National Office, you will
be sent a plasticized card with your new member number.
|
| Q |
I
registered for a course, what if the weather is lousy?
|
|
Courses take
place regardless of weather conditions. The only time
a course is cancelled is when there is a lack of snow
or the hill is closed due to extreme weather conditions
(severe snow storms, lightning storms, intense high
winds, etc.)
|
| Q |
How
good do I need to be to take a level one course? |
|
You must
be 15 years of age or older and must possess good parallel
skiing skills.
|
| Q |
But,
I've never taught before. |
|
No worries,
that's what the course is all about. The evaluators
are there to teach you how to teach, so that you will
be able to go out and give a great first lesson.
|
| Q |
I
took the Level 1 course and failed, what do I have
do? |
|
CSIA - You must
take a re-test, which occurs during the last 2 days
of any scheduled Level 1 course. Please contact the
Level 1 Coordinator in your region to register.
CSCF - If you've
failed skiing or teaching portion, you'll have to re-test
one of them.
|
| Q |
If
I only pass a portion of a Level 2 or 3 course, do
I have to take the full course over again? |
|
No, you will
be re-tested on your failed portion. However, this must
be done within 2 seasons (730 calendar days) from the
time you failed your skiing or teaching portion. If
you wait later than 2 seasons, you will have to take
the full course over again, but will not be tested on
the passed portion.
|
| Q |
I've
passed my Level 1 and want to take another course?
|
|
Check out the
other courses available on our web site and you can
register for them on-line.
